Note: Giovanni Lala immigrated to the USA on December 18, 1882 aboard the S.S. Rouen, with his wife Caterina Schiro-Lala and son's Michel, Nicholas & Bernardo. Also on ship were her parents, Nicolas Schiro, Giuseppa Patella Schiro, sister Giuseppa Schiro, sister Anna Schiro and brother Biaggio Schiro.
Giovanni (John) Lala was one of the founders of the Contessa Entellina Society, hence he joined on September 8, 1886, the feast day of the Society's patroness, SS. Maria della Favara. Giovanni resided at 177 Saint Philip Street, in the French Quarter. A native of Contessa Entellina, Palermo, Itlay, he was listed as a immigrant.
