TERRANOVA Anthony John Terranova, Sr., age 90 years, died at 12:20 a.m., early in the morning on August 27, 2006. He was born on Oct. 12, 1915 in New Orleans and lived there until he moved to Slidell in April, 2002. Husband of the late Dorothy Pearl Robertson Terranova for 60 years. Father of Sandra T. Lopinto Pareti, Anthony J. Terranova, II (Jackson, MS) and the late John Anthony Terranova. Father-in-law of Alfred L. Pareti, Jr. (Slidell, LA). He was the brother of Marie T. Glaviano and Rosalie T. Fleming. Grandfather of Anthony J. Terranova, III (Jackson, MS), Peter Joseph Lopinto (New York), David Anthony Lopinto, and John J. and Gina Terranova. Great-grandfather of Katlyn and Kallie Lopinto. Step-grandfather of Sheryl Pareti-Dsouza. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Anthony and Lillie Bellanga Terranova. Mr. Terranova proudly served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Marine Corps from 7/6/1942 - 11/30/1945 on Iwo Jima, in the Volcan Islands, in the Pacific with the Fifth Division/28th Regiment. He owned and operated his own grocery and meat business, Terranova's Super Market on Airline Hwy from 1/1/1946 until his retirement in 1979. He was later employed at Dorignac's for over 20 years. After Dorothy had her stroke in May 1999 and moved to Slidell to live with her daughter, he moved into Live Oak Village Assisted Living to be nearer his wife. He was a New Orleans resident for over 87 years, and has lived in Slidell for 4 years. The family would like to recognize a special thank you to Holly Farish for her care and concern she provided during these past months, she was very special to him. Also a special thanks to the staff at Live Oak Assisted Living in Slidell. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
