Note: Wow! I didn't think I'd ever hear from anyone about my queries on JoeCrispi. In fact, I had stopped using RootsWeb (which that site was at onetime before RootsWeb and Ancestry.com merged) in favor of GenForum (whichnow, I hear, is also part of the same conglomerate). Anyhow, I had soforgotten placing my RootsWeb query on Joe Crispi that I never even saw Mr.D'Amico's response. (One of my reasons for dissatisfaction with some ofthose sites was that their system of notification was not very good.Sometimes I'd go back to queries and find that people had indeed responded.)Rosa Serilia Vetrano was an aunt of my grandmother Sadie Rose IngrandoMathewson. Her father was Tony Ingrando (born Anthony Joseph Crispi andadopted after his mother's death---I believe he was about two---by Francesand Michael Ingrando). My "Granny" often told me that Francis was JoeCrispi's sister. Tony died 10 October 1963 in Channelview. He had marrieda second time. His first wife Sallie Moore Ingrando died when Granny was 17(in 1927). My mother says that the second wife, Vera, was very young andhad indeed been a friend of my Granny. There is a lady named Elizabeth Green (18 Farrell St., Houston, Texas77022-2609) who is related to the Crispis by Joe Crispi's 2nd marriage---toLacy Rival, I believe was the name. From that marriage there was a RobertCrispi and several sisters, all being half-siblings of Tony and his olderbrother Joe, Jr. She is very interested in the Crispi family history also. She has been a lot of help to me in my research about Joe's first wife, myancestor Mary Ellen (Gill) Flannegan Fitzgerald. Edward Flannegan died andshe married William Fitzgerald (who was at the Battle of Sabine Pass). Hewas a sailor and left for such a long time that people thought him dead. SoJoe and she married in a civil ceremony in Houston. (Her previous 2marriages were at Galveston in the Catholic Church.) Also, anotherresearcher is Joan Pate whose e-mail address is in the cc address above.Gosh, I am ecstatic to know Joe Crispi's parents names. There used to be asite that listed the name as one of the Arbaresh, people in Italy and Greeceof Albanian ancestry. I have a record of a D. A. Crispi who died in SanAntonio. He was a confectioner and his estate was mostly candy makingmaterials. I wonder if he was Joe's brother! D. A. was born in Greece, according to his death certificate. Family lore (my mother tells us thisone) is that Joe Crispi was going to inherit a vineyard in Greece from anuncle (or somebody), but that Joe preferred it over here, so didn't inherit.Questions (many!!!): Did Giuseppe, Sr., die in Sicily? Did MargheritaTamborello Crispi Sciambra and Anonino Sciambra ever come to America? Aretheir burial sites known? I keep coming across the name Kelly Ingrando(Kelly? An Irish name for a Sicilian!). Was he a brother of MichaelIngrando? Rosa Serilia was here in the U. S. Frances and Michael, ofcourse, also were in the U. S. (besides "Grandpa Joe Crispi"). Did any oftheir siblings also come to America? I wonder why Joe selected to Houstonarea to come to, instead of, say, New York or New Orleans. That is, was theattraction mostly the similar climate as in Sicily? If so, why did he notchoose to live in the Texas hill country (which would have been more likeSicily)? I guess he was a sailor, right? How are you related to my "Grandpa Crispi"? Tony must have heard the nameof his grandmother because he named a daughter Marguerite (Aunt Rita wecalled her). Did you know any of them? There was Uncle Buster (calledCully, because he had cully hair, get it?), Aunt Rita, Aunt Mae (who marriedJoe Matranga), and my grandmother Sadie Rose. Can you list the children ofMargherita Tamborello Crispi Sciambra (for both marriages)?
