Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday. Religious services at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery, Hammond. Survived by three grandchildren, Raymond "Randy" L. Colona Jr., Hammond, and Brenda Colona Peralta and Jami Colona Benton, both of Baton Rouge; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe and Lawrence Monistere, both of Hammond; and two sisters, Phyllis M. Dixon, Hammond, and Lena M. Campo, New Orleans. Preceded in death by her husband, Michael Joseph Crapanzano; three daughters, Ida May and Ida Jo Crapanzano and Mary L. Crapanzano Colona; parents, Albert and Ida Vitale Monistere; three sisters, Katie Sciara, Fannie Peco and Mary Ann Monistere; and two brothers, Chris and Nick Monistere.

Monistere, Vincent L. (b. 23 Sep 1921, d. 25 Mar 2001)

Note: VINCENT L. MONISTERE BATON ROUGE - Vincent L. Monistere, 81, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge. A native of Hammond, he was the former owner/operator of Vince's Texaco for 25 years and was a retired carpenter and member of Local Union 1098. He was a lifelong fan of LSU football and a marshal for LSU football for 10 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a medical technical sergeant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Ninfa Monistere; two daughters, Nina Monistere Huffstetler, Denham Springs, and Carol Breen, Baton Rouge; two sons, Vincent J. "Sonny" and Sammy J. Monistere, both of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mary Ann Mayeaux and Phine Ledet, both of Hammond; Mary Siciliano, Phoenix; three brothers, Salvadore, Albert and Nat Monistere, all of Hammond; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ninfa Nicolosi Monistere; a sister, Katie Strack; and two brothers, Anthony and Chris Monistere. Visitation is tonight from 5 to 9 at Welsh Funeral Home, Baton Rouge and Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral at noon. The Rev. Chris Eggleton will conduct the service, and burial will be in Rose Memorial Park, Hammond.
